Task Description

Use Ancestry's RedBook to add starting dates for records, as mentioned in the top table on each of Utah's 29 counties.

Why Changes Are Needed

The chart now at the top of each county was added to get users to information more quickly.

The process of adding that chart was extensive, not allowing time and effort to verify and footnote where the information came from.

Therefore, starting dates need to be verified and footnoted, so everyone knows the source for those dates.

Steps

Preparation

A. Get the Red Book
B. Sign up for a county

type the name of that county in the Summary box and Save Page

Change the Dates in the Chart

Click to the county, then get in Edit mode. (Not WikiText, unless you want to enter the codes for references yourself.)[1]

In the Red Book, find the date Birth records started in the county, and enter it on the chart.

Create the reference footnote: Copy the following citation:

Alice Eichholz, ''Red Book: American State, County and Town Sources'', 3rd ed. (Salt Lake City: Ancestry Pub., 2004), 479. {{WorldCat|55947869|disp=At various libraries (WorldCat)}}; {{FHL|1185723|item|disp=FHL Book 973 D27rb 2004}}.

On the county page, get into Edit mode, (NOT Wikitext), click the Add/Edit References icon

Paste the citation, change the page # from "479" to the correct page in the Red Book, and click OK

Sign up Chart

Volunteers are needed to check all 29 counties, adding items as appropriate. Please place four tildes (~~~~) in the "Volunteer" column next to the counties you choose for this task. This will automatically show your username and the date you signed up.
