  • I have created Help Cases concerning the two items as requested last week. I believe these MUST be resolved before too long to avoid many upset people. I have had discussions with people at FamilySearch, but it seems stalled.
    1. FamilySearch is working on a script to change all links to the FHLC to use the {{FHL}} template. They need to decide on default text to display. Also, I believe the script needs to be modified (and I need to change the template) to allow this text to be overridden. Otherwise, I believe that MANY people will be upset that sentences will not make any sense and the text will be gone to correct them.
    2. Several thousand hard-coded links to labs, pilot, Record Search, and beta Historical Records exists. As the Record Search goes away, links will probably stop working. When Historical Records comes out of beta, more links will break. The {{RecordSearch}} template was created to take care of this. Another script needs to be created that would be very similar to the one created for the {{FHL}} template. If this is not done, we will eventually have thousands of broken links.
    • I bring the above subjects up in this meeting in order to hopefully get them unstalled. Others have asked about them in previous meetings and I have put them off indicating that I was hoping to hear back. Still nothing. With my new job, I will not be able to attend many meetings during the day. However, I am still planning on helping, but people may have to contact me instead of talk to me in a meeting.   • Discussion on the problem of redundant pages. Redundant pages are inherently bad for the Wiki. For example, creating a page about county formation separate from the county page is confusing.
To stimulate this discussion I propose we delete (State Name) County Creation Dates and Parent Counties pages.
