The second image in my batch shows "grass widow" in the marital status box. A quick internet search indicates this is not a true widow, but could be a number of different situations including abandonment or divorce, or similar but in a non-marriage relationship. I am not sure how to mark this one, and believe it should just be left blank since the actual status isn't clear. Is that the right thing to do? Share batch #182230000
I have recently come across several batches of records from El Paso County (such as this one: 180254665) that include "Report of Death"s as well as Death Certificates. The RoD's list specific Ward, Street, and Number addresses as Place of Death, then ask "Duration of residence in El Paso?" I believe this question is in reference to El Paso the city, but it never specifically lists El Paso as the death city. Because El Paso is both a city and a county, this is a confusing form! Should these be indexed as El Paso in both Death County and Death city or just Death County?

Death Town / City Field
Original Town / city name is crossed out. Precinct is written in. We know not to index the precinct. Do we index the original town / city name since we dont index the precinct or just mark it blank? We don't have a SB # because this is coming up quite often. We need a ruling on this on the updates or the additional helps pages as an answer please and thanks! --ARobertson 20:29, 27 February 2012 (UTC) We will ask.
I realize if 'Infant' is written/typed in the marital status we are suppose to tab to the next field, however, if I accidentally type anything in this field it automatically indexes one of the four marital status and it won't let me delete it. Is there a way to leave this blank without typing in Ctrl+B? Select EDIT (located between FILE and VIEW) and then select CLEAR FIELD.
If a male has his father's last name as his middle name but a different last name, do we still submit both names in the surname field? For this and the following two questions may we have a share batch please?
I realize if "stillborn" is written in the age field on a document we index the age as Ctrl+B, but if the stillborn isn't written at all on the document, do we still use Ctrl+B?
If an infant has lived for even a little while and is marked on the record (ie, 30 minutes), do we index this field as 0?
<fck:hr> Stillborn Question
I am confused by what appears to be a discrepancy in the instructions regarding stillborns.
The field help for age states:
"Index only full years. If fractions of years were recorded, round down to the nearest full year. If less than one year was recordedor a child was stillborn, index the age as 0 (zero)."
However, the Wiki Additional Help page lists the following:
"Q: For stillborn infants, should age be indexed as 0 if it is blank?
A: No, as per Basic Indexing Guidelines- Age, When the word “Infant” is recorded on the document as an indication of the age, index the age field as Ctrl+B or <Blank> "I agree with the answer to mark blank if the field says "infant" as that could mean 1 month or 13 months, but the question is regarding "stillborn"
If the age field says 1 hour, then I've marked '0' per field help
If the age field says infant, then I've marked <blank>
On the share batch indicated-
image #3 - age field says 'at birth' & death field says 'stillborn' - I want to mark '0 ?'
image #7 - age field is blank & death field says 'stillborn' - mark 'blank' or '0'??
--does the field help only refer to what the age field says or if stillborn is marked elsewhere, as cause of death?
--why does the answer quoted above use the BIG when the field help should take precedence? result is that the previous person's question above says "I realize if "stillborn" is written in the age field on a document we index the age as Ctrl+B" when to me the field help tells me to mark '0' in this case.
Thanks for clearing up the confusion! C.H. Please check the last entry on the Additional Helps Page and see if that works. If not, let us know. <fck:hr> </fck:hr></fck:hr>
I see an example of an Amendment but it's not clear how to index this record, unless I missed this in the project instructions (entirely possible). I know the image should be indexed as Normal but do we simply enter the corrected data on the Amendment record, or correct the original certificate data of the state file no. that the Amendment is referencing? In my instance, the Amendment is correcting the first name in the certificate that precedes it in the batch. Share Batch 005145541 (assume that is the number). Thanks.
