  1. While it may be anticipated that this bibliography will eventually identify later known early family histories published about residents of this county, the fact is that the earliest generations of the Friederich Wilhelm ZIMMERMAN (FWZ) family that is prevelant on the internet; Rootsweb, Ancestry.com, etc. is  false regarding a Switzerland connection.  This reference originated with a researcher in Abbeville, S.C. known as 'Connie', or Constance.  'Connie" assumed' that an infant, born in Switzerland in 1730, and named the same as her Friederich Wilhelm ZIMMERMAN (FWZ) ancestor, was the FWZ that arrived in Charles Town South Carolina with hundreds of other Palatinate immigrants in 1764-65 aboard the Union.  The only thing is ... the FWZ whom she 'assumed' to be the FWZ of the Palatinate group ... died in 1731 ... as an infant ... in Switzerland.  Source:  Church record book film of 1731 viewed at LDS Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.  'Connie' has been advised of this on numrous occassions; but refuses to correct the flawed idata that many of today's family decendants are downloading and relying upon.

While it may be anticipated that this bibliography may eventually identify or connect to other early family histories published about residents of this early American 'EDGEFIELD' county, the fact is that the earliest generations of the Friederich Wilhelm ZIMMERMAN (FWZ) family that is prevalent throughout the internet, Rootsweb, Ancestry.com, etc., is totally false regarding anything having to do with a Switzerland connection. This reference originated from a researcher in Abbeville, S.C. known as 'Connie', or Constance (Timmerman) McNeill. Connie has assumed, based on her ‘GUT FEELING’, that an infant born in Switzerland in on *March 30, 1730, and given the same name as her (and my) ancestor, is this Friederich Wilhelm ZIMMERMAN. My ancestor, and hers, arrived in Charles Town in 1764 with hundreds of other Palatinate immigrants aboard the British ship UNION. The only thing is ... the FWZ whom she 'assumes' to be the FWZ within the Palatinate group, died-buried as an infant on September 14, 1731. Films of ancient Church record books of the period, viewed at the LDS Library in Utah, clearly document this fact. 'Connie' has been advised of this on numerous occasions; but refuses to correct the flawed data that many of today's family descendants are downloading and relying upon without confirmation or further research.
