ECCLESTON, a township with two chapelries, Christ Church and St. Thomas, in Prescot parish, Lancashire. The township lies nominally ¾ of a mile NNE of Prescot; but it includes parts of both Prescot and St. Helens towns; and it shares the railway and postal facilities of both. Christ Church is connected with Prescot town and St. Thomas is connected with St. Helens. There are chapels for Wesleyans and Roman Catholics, and a national school.
Birth, marriages and deaths were kept by the government, from July 1837 to the present day. The civil registration article tells more about these records. There are several Internet sites with name lists or indexes. A popular site is FreeBMD.
