Parish History

'Clavering, is a parish and a hundred in Essex. The parish is in Saffron Walden district; it lies on the west border of the county, 3 1/2 miles SW of Newport railway station, and 6 1/2 miles SW by S of Saffron Walden. There is and Independent chapel, and a Primitive Methodist chapel.'[1]
