marriage, divorce, court records from 1892, land records
from 1911, probate recordsfrom 1948 and military records
from 1917[1]

1876--Castro County was created 21 August 1876 from Bexar Land District. County seat: Dimmitt [2]

The county was named for Henri Castro, (1786-1865), empresario and founder of Castro's colony, was born in the department of Landes, France, in July 1786.
