History

Parent County

1907--Carter County was created 16 July 1907 from Chickasaw Lands.
County seat: Ardmore [2]

Description

The county was named for Captain Ben W. Carter, a Cherokee who lived among the Chickasaw. Carter County was founded in 1907. [3] County Seat Ardmore.[4]
