FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.


The Canoga Park Family History Center is conveniently located near Topanga Blvd. & Sherman Way. We have seven computers which can be used to search 14 Premuim Websites, including Ancestry.com, as well as any other genealogical or historical website on the Internet.  We also house a collection of historical and "how to" books, as well as over 1,000 microfilms and microfiche from a variety of U.S. states and foreign countries. Microfilms and microfiche can be ordered to view at our center where we have six film readers, including one that will print images. We have a staff of 12 Consultants who are able to help guide you to learn more about your famly history.

Upcoming Events: OPEN HOUSE, Saturday, June 15th, 9:00 a.m. - Noon. 

Class Schedule: At the Open House we will have "Hands On" training for the new Family Tree and other FamilySearch services & websites. Also, "How to Get Started & Organized," "Hispanic," "Military," "Early Pioneer," "African-American," and "DNA-another research tool." There will also be special demonstration on using the new Family Tree, and how to create a family history video, and more!  Don't miss this opportunity to see the Canoga Park Family History Center!

Collections

  • Family History Library Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.
  • (List additional collections you have such as the types of books and microfilm you have on indefinite loan; though you will not want to list every single item you have. Just give visitors to this page a general idea of your resources.)

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.
