Record type: Births, marriages, and deaths.
Time period: 1884 to present.
Contents: Birth – name, birth date and place, parents’ names, father’s occupation and residence, sometimes age of mother; occupations, and sometimes relationships. Marriage –name of bride and groom, their places of residence and date of marriage, sometimes ages and names of parents or sponsors, and information regarding any former marriages. Death – name of deceased, death and burial dates, age, residence at time of death, occupation, cause of death.
Location: National Archives in Yaoundé and provincial and department archives. Berlin, London, and Paris may have records of their nationals who were living in Cameroon during the colonial period.
Population coverage: Estimate 80% of the European population and 50% of native population prior to independence. There is not sufficient information to make an accurate estimate of overall population coverage.
