FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Centre, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

The History Centre is located just north across the river from downtown in the Crescent Road Chapel.  We overlook the Bow River, the City of Calgary, including a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains. Drive to the parking lot at the back of the chapel, there is a buzzer on the west door.

Open Hours:

  • Wednesday 9:00 am to 12 Noon
  • Thursdays 9:00 to 3:00 pm, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm,
  • Fridays 9:00 am to noon (closed Fridays of long weekends)

Languages : English/Spanish/French

Holiday Schedule:

  • July and August, closed Fridays only
  • Christmas - approximately 1 week before Christmas
  • New Year - approximately 1 week after New Year

Centre Resources


  • Family History Library Catalog: This centre has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.
  • (List additional collections you have such as the types of books and microfilm you have on indefinite loan; though you will not want to list every single item you have. Just give visitors to this page a general idea of your resources.)

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal: This centre has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the centre to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. (Include the resources you have to help individuals do their research - computers, microfilm readers, printers, etc. )
