- 1830. Jim Bridger and several other trappers bought out William Ashley and established the Rocky Mountain Fur Company, competing for the lucrative beaver pelt trade.

- 1856. Cache County was formed by the territorial legislature.
- 1857. Smithfield was founded by Robert Thornley and Seth Langdon. Early name was Summit Creek.
- 1859. The town of Logan was founded by Mormon settlers sent by Brigham Young.
- 1859-60. Providence settled, mostly by Swiss LDS converts.
- 1860. Hyrum was founded by Danish immigrants of sons of Ezra T. Benson.
- 1864. Logan became the county seat, (and the principal city of the Logan, UT-ID Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Cache County and Franklin County, Idaho).
- 1864. Clarkston was laid out. It was named for Israel J. Clark.
- 1869. Amalga was settled by Mormon settler Hans Jorgensen.
- 1884. Logan Utah Temple dedicated.
- 1888. Utah State University was founded in Logan.
- 1891. Logan Tabernacle dedicated.in 1891.
- 1907. Cornish City emerged as a town on the Oregon Short Line Railroad.
- 1916. In Amalga, Amalgamated Sugar Company started making sugar from sugar beets.
- 1941. Cache Valley Dairy Association in Amalga started to process milk into Swiss cheese.
