The Chapelry of Emmanuel Bolton-le-Moors was built in 1838 and stood in the civil parish boundaries of St Peter Bolton-le-Moors. Emmanuel church, built in 1838 originated in a desire on the part of the parishioners to present a service of plate to the vicar, who requested the fund might be applied rather to the building of a church in the most destitute part of the town; it is a handsome structure in the early English style, with a tower and spire.
Birth, marriages and deaths were kept by the government, from July 1837 to the present day. The civil registration article tells more about these records. There are several Internet sites with name lists or indexes. A popular site is FreeBMD.
