FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

We are here to give you access to many wonderful resources for your research.

  • Corner of Altadena Road and Cahaba River Road in the Church. Our door is nearest the Altadena Road entrance to parking.

Open Hours:

Tuesday: 10am-4pm
Wednesday: 10am-8pm
Some Saturdays: 10am-2pm


     CLOSED from 17th to 21st of September 2012.

     Hope to reopen 22nd of September 2012.

     Open an extra Saturday...29 September 2012, 10am until 2pm

Holiday Schedule:

     October 31, 2012...Closed at 3pm

     November 21-24...Closed for Thanksgiving

     Reopen November 27th

     December 13th, 2012 to Jan 1, 2013...Closed for Christmas

     Reopen January 2, 2013

Staff Training Meetings:    

       Fourth Sundays 3-4pm
       No training meeting in November or December charge

Center Resources


  • Family History Library Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.
  • Alabama Death Records for years 1908 to 1962, complete. 1963-1974, various.
  • Many microfilm for England, Ireland, Germany, Scotland, South Africa

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.

Hardware and Equipment

  • Computers, microfilm readers, microfilm/fiche printer for paper or digital, fiche readers
