Brief History

The 30th Regiment, Connecticut Infantry (Colored)  was organized at New Haven, Connecticut and was mustered in March 1864.  It was never filled to the maximum, only four companies were finally organized.  On the 18th of  May, 1864 the regiment was consolidated with 31st Regiment United States Colored Troops.  This regiment was mustered out at Hartford, Connecticut and discharged Dec. 1st, 1865.

Companies in this Regiment

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. This regiment was composed of men from all parts of Connecticut.
