Brief History

The 2nd Regiment, Ohio Cavalry mustered in on August to October, 1861 at Cleveland and Camp Dennison, Ohio.  They mustered out October 12, 1865 at Department of Missouri.[1]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company B - many men from Cuyahoga County
Company C - many men from Trumbull County
Company D - many men from Trumbull County
Company E - many men from Columbiana and Mahoning Counties
Company F - many men from Ashtabula County
Company G - many men from Lake, Geauga and Portage Counties
Company H - many men from Loraine County
Company I - many men from Hamilton and Medina Counties
Company K - many men from Cuyahoga County
Company L - many men from Summit County
Company M - many men from Cuyahoga County, Richland and adjoining counties
