Viskinge Church

History[edit | edit source]

Viskinge has traditionally had Avnsø parish as an annex. The church itself was built in the 13th century, probably by the powerful Hvide (White) family. Several frescos were painted in the church during the first half of the 15th century but these were painted over after the reformation. Starting in 1895 efforts have been made to uncover these frescos and they are considered among the best from their time. [1]
