African American Records Template
Hi Joan! I just wanted to thank you for your contributions and make sure you knew that it is a good idea to preview each time you add to the wiki. The template that you are adding today may need some adjusting on some of the pages. It is pushing the outline to the center of the page. Please let us know if you need help with this. Example: African Americans for New York

My uncle said my great grandmother told him she was an indian and adopted as a baby. Grandmother believes it is Cherokee and they were living in Nebraska. How would you approach this problem?
- You must search from the known to the unknown. FInd your great grandmother in other records, if she was adopted her records (marriage, birth of her children, death) would be intermingled - Search church, and civil records, Search for her death record and obituary. It is unlikely there were any adoption papers.
We are starting up the North American Project Would you like to work on it again
- Do you mean North American Indian Project?
- Who is We?
Need your help
United States Colored Troops in the Civil War, this is an ongoing project, most of the regimental pages need a list of the companies and from which counties the enlisted came from.
Thanks from the Wiki:
The FamilySearch Research Wiki is delighted to let you know that the “African American Military Records” page you helped create was a Featured Article, highlighted on the Main Page of the Wiki 8/11/11, and remained there for seven days. Thank you for your excellent work to help others quickly access records. Your contributions are appreciated and have assisted others in finding their ancestors.

Re: we may be relatives
I apologize for taking this long to get a reply back to you. A month ago, you commented on my user talk page saying that we may be related. My great-grandfather, John Earl Heder, was the son of a John William Heder, who had come to the USA as a child with his family from Sweden, including his father, Johannes Olofsson Heder. So, as far as I can tell, John William Heder is our common ancestor.

I removed a bad link place on your American Indian page: https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/American_Indian_Online_Genealogy_Records by Funnybaba. It was a download site and had nothing to do with American Indians. I hope I didn't mess up anything, it's a great page! Sjkennedy 14:38, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
