- 10 Hello,
Help to start discussion about renaming some templates to more accurately reflect purpose[edit source]
I noticed a set of templates used in several Oregon counties that contain the names of communities in a given county. I like and support the concept, but I do not like the naming convention. Two of the templates are named Template:Wallowa County and Template:Baker County. I propose the templates (and other similar templates) be renamed by adding the word Communities as a suffix to the current name.
How do I go about proposing such a global naming convention name so the templates more accurately convey their purpose?
Thank you.--Delvin Bunton 06:35, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
All requests to the Governance Council for global renaming of templates can be submitted through email at: email@example.com. They meet on a regular basis and will respond to you directly regarding this issue. Good luck! Brepouille/Wiki Support Team (talk) 14:47, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Removing Redirects[edit source]
After I clean up all the links to obsolete or abandoned page names (such as links to Sherman County, Oregon) that were entirely replaced by Sherman County, Oregon Genealogy, it seems to me the redirect no longer serves a purpose once all links to the redirect are gone.
If acceptable, I know how to mark a page for deletion, but do not want to spend the time if of limited worth. --Delvin Bunton 16:38, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
I understand the purpose for the redirects, and only really want to suggest removal of redirects that have no links to them, such as when all links to the old name are gone. For example, if someone searches for Sherman County, Oregon the page redirects to Sherman County, Oregon Genealogy. The active page will show up in the search form because the names are so similar. --Delvin Bunton 21:40, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
Spamming Links[edit source]
Why am I being blocked for "Spamming Links to External Sites?" I have made some links to legitimate Weber State University sites for their maps on our wiki home page for our upcoming conference. These are legitimate web sites available to the public. Another site I have linked is our own Ogden FamilySearch Library site.
The rules allow legitimate links and I thought they were actually encouraged. I see on my blocked log that my blocks go back to many people for what reason?
I have even been blocked on a wiki page that doesn't have ANY external links. https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Ogden_FamilySearch_Library_2016_Conference/bios
What am I missing? If I am not allowed links then please let me know.

Beverly, thanks for your note. I am happy to help with the spammers. If there is ever anything else I can help on, please let me know. I'm around most days, and usually have some free time. --Evancol (talk) 13:58, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Exception encountered, of type "Aws\S3\Exception\AccessDeniedException"[edit source]
Hello Sister Brepouille,
For the last two days I have been encountering the following message when trying to preview and edit several pages. This after properly signing in of course. And I have tried using not only Google Chrome, but Microsoft Edge and even the old Internet Explorer. I have also properly logged in with another computer and got the same message. Any idea why this is happening? Jrcrin001 (talk) 15:14, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
Exception encountered, of type "Aws\S3\Exception\AccessDeniedException"
Believe it or not, I think I know why the AccessDeniedException - image coding. I was using File verses Image and trying to add captions. I finally narrowed it down to the pipe ( | ) for captions. Below the first works but the second does not.
Compare coding for ...

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, the majority of us are receiving that notice as we work in the wiki these days. It has to do with the last update they pushed through. Our engineers were on vacation over the holidays so we've all just "dealt" with it as we could.
I tried posting those pictures above with and without captions and got the error either way.
We have several places in the Wiki that talk about adding Images. This link Help:Wiki University Wikitext--Images is the most up-to-date. You will also find lots of other information about editing in the Wiki. You are welcome to use these pages any time.
Bev: I have created the template "Family Organizations." If I understand correctly, they only want a link to the "Family Association" page and that is what the template does. Charles

Images of Temples on the Wiki[edit source]
Sister Brepouille, I was going through the WIKI University and noticed that it says no pictures of Temples on the page. We currently have an image of the Ogden Temple which is right across the street from our Center, should that be removed? I wasn't sure if the restriction meant inside pictures. Thank you for your time.
Question about "jumps" in the page[edit source]
Hello Sister Brepouille, We are attempting to use our "buttons" to jump down to that section on the webpage. Like the table of contents functionality but in our buttons. However I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I notice on the Riverton site they have done it, but without the boxes we are so fond of on the Ogden site. If you could offer some assistance that would be great.
Let me attempt to explain a little better. Instead of having the PDF documents attached to the button and then again in the body of the webpage, we would like to have it only in the body, but have the buttons at the top of the page jump down to that section within the body. I hope that makes sense.

Good to see you! I'm working on this. I've had to call in the "big-guns" as everything I've tried hasn't worked. I'll get back to you as soon as I get it figured out!

I was just checking to see if you had found out the magic that Riverton is using on their webpage yet?
