STEPHANIE HOOVER ( is an established researcher, traditionally published author and freelance journalist whose bylines have appeared in national, regional, and local publications.

Stephanie’s 19th century true crime books all center around Pennsylvania events: The Killing of John Sharpless; Philadelphia Spiritualism and the Curious Case of Katie King; and, The Kelayres Massacre: Politics & Murder in Pennsylvania’s Anthracite Coal Country.

In addition to her writing, Stephanie is a recognized research expert who has appeared on-air for the Travel Channel, and consulted for NBC's Who Do You Think You Are?, PBS’s Finding Your Roots, and Canada's Ancestors in the Attic. She has also conducted archival research for a SyFy Channel special on the Kecksburg, PA UFO incident.

She was the first genealogist to work with the owners of Philadelphia's historic Greenwood Cemetery to evaluate the historical scope and significance of its burials in advance of a massive renovation project. Her research was recognized in North South Trader's Civil War, and she has provided background for several published biographies including one on business magnate Charles J. Harrah.

Stephanie is a proud member of The Authors Guild, Sisters in Crime and the American Crime Writers League. She supports numerous other writing and research-oriented organizations.
