Melanie has always loved stories about her family, but started doing serious family history research 14 years ago for a class at Brigham Young University. She began by taking pictures of headstones of her mother's pioneer ancestors in cemeteries while she lived in Utah and learned how to use the microfiche readers at the family history library at BYU. Currently, she is researching her father's Native American roots and is primarily an "armchair" genealogist who does her research online after corralling her young children in bed. She is very grateful more records are made available online each day so she is able to continue researching while being a stay-at-home mom in California. Melanie has a B.A. in Communications with a public relations emphasis and minor in family life from BYU.
Her motto is: Family "history" without a source is mythology!
