I'm a catalog librarian (now retired) by profession so when I saw that there was a request out to get categories on pages I said, "I can do that" I'm making a quick pass through the list of pages w/out categories and assigning a broad category when I can quickly see one that's already been created. Later I will go through some of these broad categories and assign some sub-categories and adjust the pages appropriately. With broad categories on all pages, at least they will be findable w/ a category search so will be much more useful.
I'm currently serving a part-time mission in FamilySearch support, assigned to work in new.FamilySearch and Product Support so my wiki time has been reduced. Uncategorized pages[edit | edit source]
There are many small town pages, they are not intended to be categorized at all. Only a "Return to xxx County, xx" link is sufficient and we don't want everything categorized. Not all town/village pages are intended to be categorized due to little information. dsammy 19:04, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Please don't categorize the Germany pages. Efforts are already underway to realign the urls to integrate the topics, pages, articles etc to correct levels. dsammy 19:04, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Surely Laralee is just following up on the request to add categories to pages with none. All uncategorized page needs at least one category added to the page. I take that to mean that all articles in the main namespace should be categorized, however small. --Steve 20:48, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Actually it isn't everything. And as for Germany, the Germany group is still trying to clean up the mess and realign a lot so the request is not to categorize the Germany pages until the mess is cleaned up and then we will able to categorize properly. dsammy 22:28, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Laralee, Found something that needs to be checked on a page that you worked on. The Local Histories of the United States...Ohio-Oregon all of the links go to a location in BYU that requires a password. But the books can all be accessed through the "Books" heading on FamilySearch without using any password. Is there a way to regenerate the page with corrected links? I am working with the Concierge volunteers and today a patron was confused because she couldn't get to the books because of the password issue. I am a newbie on this wiki thing, too. So I hope this is the right spot for this information! Thanks!
