Talk:Lancashire Parishes

This sounds like it is probably a good step forward. I'd appreciate a link from this page to each of the additional pages you propose to adjust such as the Lancashire Chapelries page so I can easily click through to that page and be certain I am completely clear with your suggestions. I really like the concept of an A-Z list of the chapelries with links to the ancient parishes in a second column. I'm afraid that most researchers have no idea about the importance of knowing the chapelries in the area where an ancestor lived. It would be nice to discuss the general tidying for the three pages you mention but probably on those talk pages. --Darris

Hello editors,

I have a proposal to better organize the pages on Lancashire ancient parishes and chapelries:

1. Delete the "comprehensive lists" and place the information on the wiki pages for each ancient parish 2. On the page Lancashire Chapelries have a table that lists each chapelry, A-Z, with its ancient parish in a second column 3. General tidying of the pages Lancashire Parishes, Lancashire Chapelries, Lancashire Ancient Parishes. Prehaps the ancient parishes page could be deleted.

I'd like to hear comments from the community before starting this ambitious project, and hear people's concerns. However if I don't see any comments within two weeks (by 26 April 2018) then I will proceed with this project. --Av85647 (talk) 08:38, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Today I have created a new table of Lancashire chapelries that lists every chapelry on the table on Lancashire Chapelries, but also lists the ancient parish. A few pre-1837 chapelries that were missing from the old table were added, and a couple of chapelries that were part of parishes in Cheshire and lay mostly in Cheshire were removed. A lot of post-1837 chapelries are still missing, but it is probably impractical to try and list them all, and furthermore of limited value given the existence of the "Comprehensive Lists" for each ancient parish. --Av85647 (talk) 08:41, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

This new table has been placed on the page Lancashire Parishes. The table of ancient parishes has been corrected (it was missing Chipping) and put on that page also. I have proposed that Lancashire Ancient Parishes and Lancashire Chapelries be deleted.
