Apologies for the bump, but because of the dead link, I want to show a different way: http://broadcast.lds.org/elearning/fhd/product/en/handouts/gedcom.pdf Akuminari1 (talk) 18:39, 9 December 2019 (MST)

How to do GEDCOM without buying a program[edit source]

How can I do a GEDCOM without buying a program?

Here is a list of genealogy database management programs that can be downloaded for free. Once you have added information to the database you can create a gedcom.

Export to GEDCOM - is it disabled?[edit source]

"Downloading information from www.FamilySearch.org to your PAF or other genealogical program which supports GEDCOM formatted files."

The link just took me to the FamilySearch.org home page. Is the ability to export GEDCOM also gone from Family Search?

Currently we are not able to export data from Family Tree to a GEDCOM file. Use one of the Family Tree certified programs, i.e. Ancestral Quest, Legacy Family Tree, or RootsMagic to import data from Family Tree into one of the programs and then create a GEDCOM. See OnGenealogy.com for detailed instructions.

But How Do i Create One?[edit source]

There's no information here on how to create a GEDCOM file from my FamilySearch tree.

Downloading a GED from Familysearch.org[edit source]

1.Either there is no way for a non-LDS member to download a GED file or

2. You don't want to make it easy for non-LDS clients to be able to download.

Which is it. PLEASE make an easy to understand post that clearly explains how to download my famiy data. It is Exceptionally Frustrating to be unable to capture my own work and efforts. After all they surely benefit the Church. So now how about benefiting customers.

Did you go to https://www.familysearch.org/mytrees/ Family Tree? Parrisl 05:10, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

I gave it a poor rating because the article, as helpful as it was, did not give directions on how to actually upload the gedcom, and did not have a direct link to the appropriate screen to do so. I had to "google" gedcom + familysearch to get a link to the appropriate page.

GEDCOM[edit source]

The only thing not mentioned on the direct answer to my question regarding GEDCOM was how simple it is to import and export from Familysearch.org. I needed to make one more click to get that answer. Thanks!
