Creating a citation using FS England Marriages

There is a wealth of information and guidance in this page giving tips on how to create a citation using FamilySearch entries from England Marriages.  It looks valuable but by the time I had scanned through it, I was somewhat confused and feeling daunted.  Having a lifetime of scholastic reading as I have, I still was daunted.  How do people in general cope with these instructions?

I'm unsure whether I have sufficient grasp of what it says, after one reading.  There seems to be a lot of repetition in it (or have I just misinterpreted it?).  It seems to need a summary at the top, telling its purpose more clearly.

When trying to enter a source for data obtained from FS, over the years, I have always felt uneasy about my efforts and the degree of usefulness my citation will have for future researchers.  Now that I've finally read this page of guidance, I can't say I feel any more confidence.  In fact I don't feel I have the time to do all the searching of films that it talks about, to create a useful citation.

Sorry about that.  I'm not criticizing your explanation - I'm just feeding back to you how I'm affected by now having read the page provided by you.

Thanks for your comments.

The good news about citations is that indexed records now have a short citation that appears at the bottom of the search results page. FamilySearch is working on creating full citations for all record results. Our unit hoped that people would use the examples to create their own citations.
