  • The city was also known as Choquechaca (until 1538), La Plata (1538-1776), Chuquisaca (1776-1825), La Ilustre and Heroica Sucre (since 1825) and some nicknames such as "La Ciudad Blanc", "La Vieja" or "the Cult ".
