==History==
*In 1813 Cuyo's intendancy was created, and General José de San Martín assumed the position of governor, separating from the control of Córdoba, Mendoza, San Juan and San Luis, leaving La Rioja under the dependency of Córdoba.
*There was a period of anarchy until Facundo Quiroga managed to impose himself with his rural militias and stabilize the government by appointing Nicolás Dávila in September 1821.
*La Rioja was one of the thirteen provinces signatories of the Argentine Constitution of 1853, by which the Argentine Republic was constituted.
*On February 3, 1881, an interprovincial treaty was signed with the province of San Luis, defining the boundaries between both provinces.
*The province of La Rioja has a population of approximately 388,000 people. <ref>Wikipedia Collaborators, "Provincia de La Rioja (Argentina)," In ''Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia'', https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provincia_de_La_Rioja_(Argentina). Visited November 27, 2017.</ref>

=== 2. Microfilm Copies of Church Records Searched at a Family History Center in the FamilySearch Catalog ===
If the locality and time period you need are not included in the online records, the next step is to find them in the microfilm collection of the Family History Library. Currently, they are being digitized, and plans are to complete that project by 2020. Check back occasionally to see if your records have become available. In the meantime, some of them might be available at a [https://familysearch.org/locations/ '''Family History Center'''] near you. <br>
To find a microfilm:
When requesting information, send the following:<br>
