FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

The Soda Springs, Idaho Family History Center is located on the west side of town overlooking Alexander Reservoir. The entrance is on the northwest side of the building. Across the parking lot are historical markers describing the Morrisite and Camp Connor sites. The center is near the historic Oregon Trail.

  • Thursday : 10:00am-7:00pm
  • Friday : 10:00am-2:00pm
  • Sundays : 4:00pm-6:00pm

Holiday Schedule:

The center will be closed for all national holidays.

Upcoming Events

Family History Center Open House: April 8, 2017 from 9:00 am-12:00 noon. Elder Van Celaya from FamilySearch will be teaching.

The classes at the center are based on the Project Zion Books and the challenges found inside.  Listed at the end of each class are challenges that are covered in that class. These classes can help you complete your Project Zion Book.

Family History Center Thursday Night Classes:

FindARecord: January 26th,2017 at 7:00. Find out what this partner site to FamilySearch can do for you! This will help with Challenge 7, 15.

Source Attaching:  February 2nd at 7:00pm. Come take on the challenge from our Open House and learn how to attach sources to your ancestors. You might find a green temple! Challenges No. 7, 15.

How to Search FamilySearch:  February 9th at 7:00pm.  Learn how to really search for information on FamilySearch. This is a recap from the open house class and will help with Challenges No. 7, 10.

Indexing Night: February 16th at 7:00pm. Learn how to index or come and index a batch together.  300 names will be our goal for the evening!  Indexing is Challenge No. 12.

Research Sites: February 23rd at 7:00pm. Learn what researches sites are available for searching out your ancestors. Helps with Challenge No. 7, 8.

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.
  • Obituary newspaper clippings for Caribou County. These are filed alphabetically in notebooks.
  • Funeral Programs for Caribou County are kept in binders alphabetized.

Resources at the Center

The center has several computer terminals, printers and scanners. In addition the center has a microfiche and microfilm reader and a microfilm copy machine.
