Research use: A primary source for birth, marriage and death information. Does show lineage linking data.

Record type: Baptisms, marriages, burials.

Time period: 1800-present.

Contents: Baptism – name of child, date and place of birth; names of parents. Marriage – date and place of marriage; names of couples. Death – name, residence, age of deceased, place of death, names of family members or relatives. Sometimes information regarding divorces, if any, is included, as well as confirmations.

Location: National Archives, Freetown, and Diocesan archives.

Population coverage: Estimated at 70% of the British and 30% of the native population.

Reliability: Good.[1]
