Research use: A primary source.

Record type: Population statistics.

Time period: 1767 to present.

Contents: Names, relationships, number of households for each village, unmarried mature males, widows who were heads of households, brief physical descriptions and estimates of the value of crop yields and income from livestock. Also, listed were contributions to the military forces.

Location: National archive Dakar; National archive Banjul.

Population coverage: Estimated to be 75% of the French and British colonials; approximately 75% of the native population of Senegal and the Gambia.

Reliability: Generally good, some gaps.[1]
