  • The catechization of the Indians was a focus effort of the Spanish crown; the congregations founded by the royal missionaries of the New World were called "doctrines of Indians."
  • The constitution decreed that "the Petapas" had to belong to the southern circuit of the City of Guatemala.
  • The department of Amatitlán was suppressed on April 29, 1935, and the municipality of San Miguel Petapa was incorporated as a member of the department of Guatemala.
