  • In 1839 President José Joaquín Prieto baptized the western sector of Santiago with the name of Yungay.
  • The creation of the Quinta Normal commune was decreed on June 22, 1915.
  • Its main feature is to have a large number of farms and cabinets that give a country atmosphere.
  • In December 1916 the Yungay commune was created to the north from the eastern sector of Barrancas.
  • On January 28, 1928, Quinta Normal joined Yungay.
  • On January 20, 1930, by Decree No. 116 the name of Yungay was modified, being named as the previous one, Quinta Normal.
  • The commune of Quinta Normal has an approximate population of 102,000 people[1].
