The Poole Family History Centre serves the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch areas of South East Dorset.

Opening Hours:

  • Tuesdays: 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Wednesdays: 9.30 am to 12.00 noon
  • Thursdays: 9.30 am to 12.00 noon

The booking calendar for the whole of 2017 is already set up on the web site. Just click on the link below. Mouse over the dates in the month you want to book an appointment. Only the dates we will be open will be available (yellow). You will need to provide your name and email on first appointment to register. Then subsequent bookings can be made by simply signing in and choosing the resource required and the date and time slot of your choice.

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This centre has the ability to view a variety of films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.

  • FHC Portal This centre has access to the Family History Centre Portal page which gives free access in the centre to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.

Hardware and Equipment

  • 1 networked printer/scanner/copier (monochrome)
  • 1 digital copy scanner/reader for film or fiche
  • 1 microfilm reader
  • 1 microfiche reader
  • 1 flat bed scanner for books or single page documents

All these items are free to use, however please book on-line ahead of time to reserve equipment to avoid disappointment.
