Parish History

PENTONVILLE, a hamlet, in the parish of St. James, Clerkenwell, Finsbury division of the hundred of Ossulstone, county of Middlesex;See Clerkenwell.[1]

Additional information:

The church was opened in April 1863 and was dedicated as Christ Church, Pentonville. This dedication was altered to Saint Silas at the consecration on 16th July 1867. It lay within the civil parish boundaries of Clerkenwell St James and was built to divide and ease the district church population of St James Pentonville specifically, in which parish it lies.
