Parishes of Historic Monmouthshire

Listed below are those ecclesiastical parishes which were in historic Monmouthshire, Wales. During the late 19th century and the early 20th century, as the population increased, many parishes were sub-divided into new parishes.
Under the Local Government Act 1972, the county and administrative county of Monmouthshire were abolished, for both local government and ceremonial purposes, on April 1, 1974.
The modern county of Monmouthshire, which was formed in 1996, has boundaries which are quite different from those of the historic Monmouthshire!
