Listed below are those ecclesiastical parishes which were in historic Monmouthshire, Wales. During the late 19th century and the early 20th century, as the population increased, many parishes were sub-divided into new parishes.

Under the Local Government Act 1972, the county and administrative county of Monmouthshire were abolished, for both local government and ceremonial purposes, on April 1, 1974.

The majority of historic Monmouthshire became part of the newly formed County of Gwent, with small parts moving into the County of Mid Glamorgan or the County of South Glamorgan.

The modern county of Monmouthshire, which was formed in 1996, has boundaries which are quite different from those of the historic Monmouthshire!

Today, these parishes are to be found within either:

the modern county of Monmouthshire
the City of Newport
the County Borough of Blaenau Gwent
the County Borough of Islwyn
the County Borough of Torfaen
the County Borough of Caerphilly
