  • Palena was founded in February 1929.
  • There were many Chilean inhabitants who lived in a zone of controversy between Chile and Argentina that, at the end of 1966, was designated as the Argentine region. The Chileans of this area moved to the town that became Palena.
  • The Palena commune has a population of approximately 1,800 people[1].
