The Orem Utah Geneva Heights Family History Center is sponsored and supported by the Aspen, Timpview, and Geneva Heights LDS Stakes and housed in the Geneva Heights Stake Center building.

Holiday Schedule:

  • We are closed on all recognized State and Federal Holidays.

Calendar and Events

Family Story Room:

  • Our family story room is available for you to video-tape interviews with your family members.  A "living room" environment, including a couch, rocking chair, plants, and photos, provides a warm family atmosphere in which to record these precious memories.
  • Appointments are for 90 minutes, which include set-up, preparation, a 60-minute recording session, and take-down.
  • Appointments are required.  Please call Sister Elaine Wood at (801) 225-6123 or send an email to elaine@xmission.com to make an appointment. Leave a message if needed and she will call you back.  Please do not assume your visit is scheduled until you receive confirmation from Sister Wood.

Group Visits:

  • We welcome ward and family group visits, but ask if your group is larger than 5 people that you schedule at least 24 hours in advance.  You many schedule by calling Sister Elaine Wood (801) 225-6123 and leaving a message or by sending her an email at elaine@xmission.com.  Please do not assume your visit is scheduled until you receive confirmation from Sister Wood.

Class Schedule:

Tuesdays @ 7:00PM - 8:30PM:  Ancestral Quest.

  • This is an 8-week course that re-cycles.
  • No pre-registration is required.
  • Call Bud Wood @ (801) 372-1804 (email:budwoodut@gmail.com) to get specific topics each week or to see when each cycle starts anew.

Thursday @ 7:00PM - 8:30PM: FamilySearch.org

Staff Training Meetings:

3rd Sunday of each month (except August and December) @ 7:00PM.  All are invited, whether staff or not.

  • The Center has approximately 450 films on permanent loan.
  • Several books, including those on early Utah pioneers, Nauvoo baptisms, and research guidelines are available.

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.

FHL Films on Indefinite Loan

  • We have films for Argentina, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden, UK - Call to see if we have the film you need

Hardware and Equipment

  • The center has a dedicated classroom providing fifteen computers, each equipped with dual monitors.
  • Complete Internet access to premium sites through the Family History Portal.
  • Our classroom has Internet connectivity and a projection screen.
  • Patrons can either sign in with our computers or connect their own laptops to our Internet services through a wireless connection.   
  • All FHC computers are equipped with the latest versions of personal management software, including Ancestral Quest, Legacy, and RootsMagic.

  • FamilySearch Research Wiki: What It Can Do For You!: A comprehensive video presentation explaining the Wiki, navigating it, and some especially useful pages. Case studies demonstrate using the Wiki for genealogical research. Editing and adding articles to the Wiki are covered.

Volunteer at the Center

Whether LDS Church member or friends of another faith, we are always looking for qualified volunteers to staff our Center.  Shifts are three hours in length:

  • 9:00AM - Noon
  • Noon - 3:00PM
  • 3:00PM - 6:00PM
  • 6:00PM - 9:00PM
