WINDSOR, OLD (St. Peter), a parish, in the union of Windsor, hundred of Ripplesmere, county of Berks, 2 miles (S. E. by S.) from Windsor.
At Windsor Great Park, situated on the river Thames, there was also built a chapel (of ease) in the Great Park, a royal donative chapel, built by George IV for the accommodation of his household, and later used for the gentry, tenants, and keepers connected with the royal domains (by about 1790).
Birth, marriages and deaths were kept by the government, from July 1837 to the present day. The civil registration article tells more about these records. There are several Internet sites with name lists or indexes. A popular site is FreeBMD.
