What is in This Collection?[edit | edit source]

This collection contains baptismal records created by the London Missionary Society during their time prosletyzing in Niue. The Society, which was closely tied to the Congregationalist church, was formed in 1794 with the purpose of spreading the gospel in non-Christian nations. Work in Niue began in 1844 when missionaries from Samoa were sent there as well as to Ellice Islands, Papua, Rotuma, Tokelau, and Vanuatu.
