Parish History

NEWPARKS, a liberty, in the parish of Thurlaston, union of Blaby, hundred of Sparkenhoe, S. division of the county of Leicester, 6½ miles (S. W. by W.) from Leicester. [1]

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson, Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described New Parks like this:

NEW PARKS, an extra-parochial tract in the district and county of Leicester; 1 mile W N W of Leicester.
