Description
The County was named for Major Abram Poindexter Maury of Williamson County, who was a member of the Tennessee legislature, and an uncle of Commodore Matthew Fontaine Maury. The County is located in the central area of the state. [1]

The society serves the 40 counties of middle Tennessee of which Maury County is one.
