Parish History

Leadenham St Switihin is an Ancient Parish and includes Lowfield in its boundary

The village appears as Ledenham in the Domesday survey.

The church dates from 1320 when a former Saxon church on the site was removed and a stone church began to be built.

The church was restored in the Victorian period and has a painted ceiling by Augustus Welby Pugin in the 1830 restoration.

Together with neighbours  Fulbeck, Lincolnshire to the south and Welbourn to the north the village lies on the Lincolnshire Cliff a prominent escarpment in the flat landscape of the county.

The Wesleyan Methodist chapel was built in 1841.
