Reserving Equipment Steps[edit | edit source]
- Review the photos and descriptions below to know what reservations are available.
- Click the link "CLICK HERE TO RESERVE" at the right of the picture, under the description.
- You will be taken to a page to complete your reservation.
- After the reservation is complete, you will be brought back to this page should you decide to make another reservation.
Digitizing Equipment Available[edit | edit source]
- We do not provide flash drives. Please bring your own 8 - 16 GB flash drive
- The LVFSL provides Free conversion equipment that will preserve those old audio and video recordings into a format that will be accessible for years to come.
- Sort and organize your images and documents at home.
- We will teach you how to operate the equipment. We will be available throughout your visit to answer your questions.

- Available for small groups of 10 or less.
- Room is arranged for proper social distancing.

Family Heritage Room[edit | edit source]
- Available for family groups
- Video camera and microphones and lighting
- Studio capacity of 10-15 persons
- Transfer of a 30 minute video recording to your flash drive will take about 7 minutes.
Available Digitizing Equipment[edit | edit source]
1 Large Book/Document Scanner[edit | edit source]
- The Epson scanner has a 16” x 24” glass plate and a maximum dpi of 1200dpi
- Bound books would be opened and placed face down on the glass.
- The glass is large enough for portrait photographs or pages from large photo albums.
2 Photo Scanners[edit | edit source]
The Kodak PS80 is a rapid photo scanner digitizing 60 photos per minute.
The Kodak 8.5” x 14” flatbed photo and document scanner can be used for very small or very large images.
3 Scanza Slide Scanners[edit | edit source]
Kodak Scanza digital film and slide scanner can convert 35mm, 126, 110, Super 8 and 8mm film negative and slides to JPEG. This is manually operated permitting you to view the negative and make adjustments to brightness before saving each slide.
3 Video Tape Conversion Equipment[edit | edit source]
This equipment will convert VHS & VHS-C tapes, 8mm & Hi8 tapes into MPG4 digital movies.
The conversion time is equal to the running time of the tape.
1 Reel to Reel Tape Conversion[edit | edit source]
This equipment converts reel to reel tapes to MP4 digital files.

1 Audio Cassette & Micro Cassette Tape Converter[edit | edit source]
Preserve the voice from old audio recording devices.

Wolverine 8mm and Super 8[edit | edit source]
This equipment will convert old 8mm film and Super 8 film. Conversion time - A 3” in diameter film will take approximately 45 minutes to convert. If you have 8mm or Hi8 Tape, convert using the Sony Handycam equipment.

Lexmark Rapid Scanner[edit | edit source]
The Scanner/Copier will convert your journals and letters and save them as PDF files.
The pages must be of equal size, without staples, or scotch tape/glue.
We can cut the binding off of a journal to make converting your journal easy.
