The Heidelberg Victoria Family History Centre serves interested parties in the Melbourne area to do their genealogical research. This centre is located in the Heidelberg Stake Centre of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The service is provided free of charge and there are no obligations for interested parties.

  • Parking is available from Westgarth Street (196 Westgarth St). Please follow the markers to the Family History Centre upon arrival. These markers are displayed during business hours of the centre only.

Open Hours (18-Feb-2021 to 11-Dec-2021):

  • Thursdays 10am – 2pm
  • Saturdays 10am – 2pm

Holiday Schedule:

  • Schedule may be varied during school holidays
  • The centre is closed on Victoria Public Holidays and some Church dates as follows:
  • Saturday 3rd April, Easter Sunday
  • Saturday 10th April, General Conference
  • Saturday 24th April, ANZAC Day
  • Saturday 1st May, Stake Conference
  • Saturday 12th June, Queen's Birthday Long Weekend
  • Saturday 25th September, Stake Conference

  • Tasmania: indexes to births 1803-1919, deaths and marriages 1803-1930; TAMIOT (Tombstone and Memorial Inscriptions of Tasmania)
  • Victoria: index to births, deaths and marriages 1836-1913; index to marriages 1921-1942; deaths 1921-1985; marine births, deaths, marriages 1853-1920; Index to monumental inscriptions in rural Victoria: 258 cemeteries
  • South Australia: pre-civil registration indexes; indexes to births 1842-1928; marriages 1842-1937; deaths 1842-1972
  • NSW, Western Australia, Queensland, New Zealand and other countries: free access to websites where you can search their birth, death and marriage indexes

  • FHC Portal This centre has access to the Family History Centre Portal page which gives free access in the centre to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.
