Goal of Project[edit | edit source]

This page's purpose is to help update the Categorization on the Parish pages in England, Scotland and Ireland. The goal is to change the present category that is just the county to include the parish Example:Category:Parishes in Yorkshire. This should help the search for these parishes be more accurate.

Steps in process[edit | edit source]

First steps to locate the parishes to be re-categorized:

  1. Go to the County list you will be working:
  1. Next click on the County you will work.. Example:Bedfordshire
  2. Under the Topic bar on the left side of the County page right click on Parishes to put into new tab. Example:Bedfordshire Parishes
  3. Now bring up the County Category. Example Category:Parishes_in_Bedfordshire This can be done by going to search, put in Category:(County name) now click on the category for the county and search for the correct parish category.
  4. Final step is to edit the parish page, go into wikitext, place two brackets Example[[ ]] and paste the parish category name into the brackets. Example:Category:Parishes_in_Bedfordshire Place added category to the summary on the edit page. Now save the page.

To keep track of who is doing what please go to the end of the line you are working on put your user name (3 ~) and when finished put Done.

Scotland County Parish pages[edit | edit source]

To keep track of who is doing what please go to the end of the line you are working on put your user name (3 ~) and when finished put Done.


Ireland County Parish pages[edit | edit source]

To keep track of who is doing what please go to the end of the line you are working on put your user name (3 ~) and when finished put Done.

TIP The chart on the County Parishes page has duplicate links and you only have to do one of the group. Look at the fourth column this can help you see the groups of duplicates.
