Parish History

FAIRFIELD (St. Thomas à Becket,) a parish, in the union of Romney-Marsh, hundred of Aloesbridge, lathe of Shepway, E. division of Kent, 6¾ miles (W. by N.) from New Romney.[1]


Fairfield is a village on Walland Marsh a part of Romney Marsh. Until 1934 it was a civil parish but became absorbed into the civil parish of Snargate, Kent, see Fairfield Kent Wikipedia

Brookland St Thomas a Becket is an Ancient Parish within the Diocese of Canterbury; the parish of Brookland with Fairfield is part of the benefice of Appledore with Brookland and Fairfield and Brenzett with Snargate. A map of the parish boundary is available at A church near you

The church of St Thomas a Becket was reconstructed in 1912 and has been designated as a grade I listed building British listed building

Kent County Council (KCC) has a certificate centre at the Mansion House in Tunbridge Wells which holds all the completed registers for Kent since 1 July 1837 and can supply a certified copy of any Kent birth, death or marriage entry from any register within its custody or a Kent civil partnership registration from the government online database.
