Parish History

Mersea, East (St. Edmund), is a parish, in the union and hundred of Lexden and Winstree, in the northern division of Essex, it is 9 miles SSE from Colchester. The parish of East Mersea occupies the eastern portion of the Isle of Mersea.[1]
