East Cowton is an Ancient parish; the present church was built in 1909 by Woolfall and Eccles and is dedicated to All Saints.
COWTON, EAST (St. Mary), a parish, in the union of Northallerton, wapentake of Gilling-East, N. riding of York, 7 miles (N. E. by E.) from Catterick, and 8 (N. W. by N.) from Northallerton, the post-town; containing 454 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Primitive Methodists.
