Communication tools for contributors of wikiprojects
At the Community meeting held on 8 September 2009 the topic of welcoming new contributors was discussed. It was decided that the community needed to be more welcoming and friendly. Starting with Wikipedia's WP:WC as a basic model, it was felt that we needed to adopt something like this, but more detailed and hand-holding. A FamilySearch Wiki:Welcoming committee has now been created. Rather than discuss the project during the community meeting, this is for information and also an invitation to for all to drop by and help develop the guidance and tools. --Steve 18:42, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Vote now or forever....
During the 20 October Community Meeting, we discussed a proposal to rename the Reviewer role so we could give it to all the people who should be able to upload their own multimedia (especially images). A text discussion ensued on the agenda, but it grew so large I moved it to the Reviewer Discussion page. Many suggestions were given for the new name of the Reviewer role with no consensus. So today, I'm adding a table by which we can vote. Ritcheymt 15:06, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
The Krispy Kreme Conveyor -- fresh out of the oven
How can our wiki automagically show our customers a conveyor belt full of well-written articles — a list of articles which are pretty engaging and which have reached that threshold within the last few hours or minutes? For background, see my blog post Adding Hot-off-the-Line Freshness to a Wiki. Ritcheymt 16:49, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
