CLIFTON, a chapelry district, in the parish of Ashbourn, hundred of Morleston and Litchurch, though locally in the hundred of Wirksworth, S. division of the county of Derby, 1¾ mile (S. W.) from Ashbourn with the hamlet of Compton.
